(NOTE: Signups for the Launch Team are closed. But I’ll leave this post up for the fun of it anyway)
As I’m getting closer every day to publishing this little book of mine, I’m also getting closer to asking for a bit of help. I’ve been handling the marketing and promotion of “Killing the Immortals” on my own since December, but there are some aspects of spreading the word about my book that I can’t do on my own (for some reason, Amazon won’t let me give a glowing review to my own book … Go figure). That’s where you — if you want to, anyway — come in.
I’m putting together the “Killing the Immortals” Book Launch Team, and it’d be great if you want to play a part. “What the hell is a Book Launch Team?” you ask? Well, I’m glad you did. The answer is: Well, they vary a bit. Some are very large, and some are small. The author may ask a number of tasks from you, or may ask very little. Luckily for you, I’m not asking much. And you get free stuff! So, the real question is, why wouldn’t you do it? Right? Yeah, I thought so.
Here’s a quick plot summary of the book:
Modern medicine has ended almost all involuntary death. If your brain and body are intact, you’ll be back to normal within days. Cancer is eradicated. 3-D printers provide instant replacements for damaged organs. People’s lives are continuing indefinitely.
But Richard Barker doesn’t see this as progress. He sees it as playing God, destroying a cycle of life and death that has served humanity for millennia. As Richard’s philosophy gains a larger following, and he pulls his family into the fold, he pushes forward with the plan he’s preaching—kill those who would have died if not for meddling doctors, and make sure they stay dead.
Set as an alternate vision of today, Killing the Immortals delivers a terrifying version of reality where science has achieved one of humanity’s most cherished dreams, and it’s turning into a nightmare.
Now, if that sounds like something you’d like to read, and you’re one of the first 50 people to sign up via this link, you’ll receive a free advance eBook copy of “Killing the Immortals,” before anyone else gets to see it (If you need it for something other than Kindle, let me know). You’ll also be in my best graces for future perks I’m planning down the road. In exchange for the free copy of the eBook, you agree to read it over the next few weeks and write an honest review to post on the Book Launch date in July (exact date to be determined, but it should be the second or third week). You’ll have at least 4 weeks to read the book, perhaps more. The review doesn’t have to be positive. If you think the book sucks, that’s totally fine too. I want honest reviews, whatever they say, because reviews are a big part of the lifeblood of marketing a book. Reviews — even if they say the book makes their teeth hurt — help to boost your book in the genre rankings. Read this blog post for some reasons why reviews really matter.
So, yes, this is a big deal, and I’ll be really grateful if you can help out. Yes, even if your review is One Star. I’ll gladly take it. If you sign up, I’ll be in touch with more updates, like when I have an official Launch Date and, of course, when I’m sending you the book. Thanks for reading, and for giving a damn about this little adventure of mine. It’s been a fun ride, and this is just the beginning.
